Lovely Wedding Venues Around The Capital Region

- Tuesday, August 19, 2014
There are many lovely wedding venues in and around the Capital Region, but if you’re looking for something truly nontraditional, here are 4 suggestions:
  • Anything on the water or with a lake or river view can be a dramatic and appealing locale for a wedding. A nautical theme offers lots of decorating opportunities too. Some interesting candidates are ferries, houseboats, dockside restaurants and parks near or on water. One to consider: The Sagamore Resort, where you can plan your wedding ceremony water side with the Adirondack Mountains as your backdrop, plan the reception aboard a boat or the Sagamore’s tent with beautiful views of Lake George.
  • When you're looking for picturesque or meaningful sites for your wedding, don't forget to check out the historic or cultural buildings in the area. Who hasn’t dreamed of having their wedding and reception in a grand Victorian mansion?  One suggestion is The Mansion Inn, Saratoga, NY. The romantic style of the Mansion Inn offers an unforgettable setting for you and your guests. Delight your guests with a cocktail reception on a spectacular deck overlooking colorful gardens. The Mansion also offers gorgeous Victorian bedrooms for you and your guests accommodations.  From small, intimate weddings to elaborate receptions for 200 guests, the inn can be very accommodating.
  • The great outdoors are a classically beautiful backdrop for a wedding & reception. One to try is Whiteface in Lake Placid, NY. Surrounded by majestic mountains and lakes, and filled with spirit from the Olympic Games, Whiteface is lovely in every season. Imagine a rehearsal dinner atop the 120-meter ski jumping tower, wedding ceremony where your guests are whisked to the top of Little Whiteface on the Cloudsplitter Gondola with a 360-degree view of the high peaks, and a reception in the village of Lake Placid at the Conference Center at Lake Placid.
  • A historically significant building. Who hasn’t dreamed of having their wedding and reception in a grand castle? One suggestion is The Inn at Erlowest outside Lake George, NY. This magnificent turn-of-the-century Queen Anne stone castle pays tribute to days gone by with guests mingling by the water in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Delight your guests with a cocktail reception on a spectacular deck overlooking historic Lake George. From small, intimate weddings to elaborate receptions for 200 or more guests, the inn can be very accommodating.
