Planning Your Company Holiday Party 101

Before you know it jingle bells will be ringing and snow will be falling, commencing the joy of another Holiday season. Naturally, it’s the most wonderful time to celebrate your staff for their hard work and the company’s successes over the last year!  So you have been tasked with planning your company’s holiday party? It is easy to feel overwhelmed but don’t worry we are here to guide you every step of the way!

When to Begin Planning The Holiday Party

Start brainstorming dates, venues, and party themes towards the end of Summer and begin booking your vendors in the Fall. The few months until December will fly by so you will need to act fast to secure the venue, vendors and entertainment.

Pre Planning Items

First things first, what is your company’s budget for the holiday party? This will set the framework for what you can incorporate and ensure no aspect of the event is overlooked once you begin to book. Traditionally, holiday parties are set in early to mid December. You will need to be mindful of employee’s calendars packed with travel dates and time spent with family as the holiday season nears. Break with tradition and select a date in January or early February which ensures less competition when choosing a venue and vendors. Not to mention, a higher employee turnout as less events are held this time of year.

Select a Venue

Decide whether to host your holiday party at the office or an offsite venue. Choosing a venue will take up a large portion of your budget but can be a great way to boost spirits. If you have a tighter budget, opt for a party at the office and select decorations that will transform the space into the setting of a spectacular holiday soiree.

Pick a Theme

The nature of the event is a company holiday party, so ensure that any additional theme is appropriate for the workplace and inclusive of all employees. Here are five of our favorite themes to create a show-stopping party this holiday season!

  1. Winter Wonderland

2. Après Ski

3. Silver and Gold

4. Candyland

5. Enchanted Forest
